The Institute of Politics has already made its first steps abroad. The fourth training module for Political Leadership of Paisii Hilendarski class is held in Strumica, Macedonia.

The successful start was given by the Mayor of the town, Kosta Yanevski, who has especially welcomed the representatives of the Institute of Politics.

“I am sincerely happy that you will acquire your new knowledge of politics here,” Yanevski said. The newly elected Mayor of Strumica added that at the end of the week he would be glad to get a feedback on the impressions and opinions of the Bulgarian politicians about the situation, the problems and the opportunities for development of the city and specific proposals for future joint projects. He welcomed the project of the Institute of Politics for setting up a Balkan Center for Political Knowledge and Skills. “I hope that politicians from Macedonia and Strumica will be included in your new international program for training of Balkan political leaders. For us, the politicians, it is very important to learn, to educate and to improve our knowledge, “he said. The Mayor of Strumica gave as an example the Prime Ministers of the two countries, Boyko Borisov and Zoran Zaev, who clearly show how good neighbourhood relations should be built, which are getting more and more intense every day.

“I am so happy that I can not believe how and in what a short time from the start of the idea we are deploying to the Western Balkans, and we are now realising that dream”, answered to the hospitable speech Prof. Antoaneta Hristova, Chairman of the Management Board of the Institute of Politics. She added that she believed in the infectious power of the positive example and is certain that the ambition and energy of the Bulgarian politicians from ‘Paisii Hilendarski ‘class would ignite the spark of joint scientific and educational cooperation with the Macedonian representatives of the political class.

“The hospitality of our hosts, their interest and involvement in the process of organising our international training is a clear sign that we are on the right track in expanding the activities of the Macedonian Institute of Politics,” said Kalina Krumova, Executive Director of the Institute of Politics. She gave Yanevsky a boutique notebook with the engraved logo of the Institute of Politics with wooden covers and gilt-edged sheets. “We have made it especially for our visit here with the message and the desire to create and celebrate together our initiatives, our success and our common memories. It has been made for us today and for the generations after us, because the greatest treasures are kept most diligent and appreciated over time, “added Krumova.

The training module in Strumica will continue for one week. The culmination will be this Friday, November 17th, when the Institute of Politics organizes the Balkan Round Table. A Speaker in the discussion will be personally Zoran Zaev, Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia. He will deliver a lecture on “Neighborhood and Common Horizons”. Ms. Monika Panayotova, Deputy Minister of the Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council 2018; Mr. Boyan Maricic, Advisor to Zoran Zaev on European Affairs, and Mr. Kosta Yanevski, Mayor of the town of Strumica, will also take part in the event.

The beginning of the discussion will be given by the Institute of Politics with a presentation on its latest national representative survey “Bulgaria and Macedonia – Tolerance on the Way to Europe”.

“I am extremely happy that the implementation of our ambitious plans coincides with the development of the good neighbourhood relations between Bulgaria and Macedonia and that we are holding this important ‘Balkan’ round table just before the joint meeting of the two cabinets on November 22, again in Strumitsa. Although, the events happen independently, it is a proof that the Institute of Politics captures in advance, examines in a timely manner and implements its proactivity in an amazing synergy with the current international events and positions of the Cabinet, “Krumova added.

On Tuesday, the students of ‘Paisii Hilendarski’ class together with the leadership of the Institute of Politics, will take an active part in the cultural life of Strumica with visits to a charity concert with a humanitarian cause.
